Blog safety over the holidays

Hi fellow beauty bloggers, and basically anyone in the world who blogs.

It's the Christmas season, and lots of you go away for holidays, and blog about the holiday, and what you're doing and how long you are away for and where you're going etc.
Fun to read about for sure, but ask yourself, who else is reading your blog???

Many of you, link your twitter page to your blog and vice versa. You also link it to a webpage and a facebook page. It doesn't take an ordinary person very long to find your surname, and the area where you live. White pages and other online directories tells me and everyone else in the world where you live. You've just blogged that you're on holidays and for how long. It's like putting a sign outside your house saying your house is EMPTY!!! Want to be an easy target for thieves? No, I don't think you do.

A Jurlique follow up on skincare

I went to one of my first blogger nights several months ago courtesy of Jurlique and their PR company Torstar.
I wanted to do a 3 month follow up on their awesome skincare anti-ageing range.

We were given on the night a serum, face cream and eye cream.
I've been using them consistently since being given the products.
The jurlique system is nice and easy. Cleanse with the cleanser appropriate for your skin, tone with their spray on toner, and apply serum, moisturizer and eye cream.
I've noticed the products arent oily on my combination skin, there's been no break outs what-so-ever, and my skin has felt moisturized, and hydrated.
The thing about jurlique is that they are quite under-rated, they dont advertise much or have the big name celebrity endorsement. What you see is what you get :)
Great Aussie made product, not expensive, well researched, and it delivers what it sets out to.
Overall, great products. 4 stars.

RESTYLANE Day Moisturizer review

I won Restylane moisturizer on a twitter competition, and have been using it for several months now.
When i first tried it, I found initially it was quite fraganced, but after a while, the perfume didnt bother me.
What did I think of the product? It's a lovely moisturizer, not too thick or heavy for my skin. Light enough to wear under makeup but still feels like you have a plumped skin feel. It is put out as the companion product of Restylane (as in the dermal filler Restylane). Although of course it doesnt take wrinkles away, it leaves a nice feel on the skin, and is a great day cream for all skin types.
Restylane® Day Cream is a moisturiser suitable for all skin types. The DMS lipid structure in Restylane Day Cream means it has a high biocompatibility with your own skin, which helps build up the skin’s natural protective barrier to reduce water loss and withstand premature ageing.

Restylane Day Cream contains active ingredients that improve the skin’s own detoxifying ability, resulting in soft and healthy skin. The addition of stabilized hyaluronic acid enhances the long lasting moisturising effect of the cream.
Active ingredients:
Stabilized Hyaluronic Acid, DMS, Niacinamide, Creatine, Acetyl Carnitine, Piperine and Ceramide 3.
Suggested usage:

Apply to thoroughly cleansed skin in the morning. It is recommended to use a sun protection cream SPF 15 or higher, when using Restylane Day Cream on a daily basis.

Soléo Organic Sunscreen review

Soléo Organic Sunscreen is an all-natural, organically produced skin care solution that is safe for humans and the environment. Soléo has been innovatively formulated according to Naturopathic principles without the use of any chemical UV-absorbers, titanium dioxide, or synthetic preservatives.

Soléo is innovatively designed to block both UV-A and UV-B solar radiation, while providing natural moisturising care for your skin. Fortified with botanical extracts that are naturally sourced. Soléo All Natural Sunscreen is a consumer-safe and environmentally friendly solution formulated to be a part of any daily skin care regiment.

The Soléo Difference
SE Formula: made using ONLY natural ingredients according to Naturopathic principles for holistic health and well-being. A healthy choice:
NO chemical UV-absorbers
NO synthetic preservatives
NO titanium dioxide
NO benzoates
NO petrochemicals
NO artificial fragrances
NO nano ingredients

What did I think? I liked this product. It has little to no odor, it's definitely not greasy on the skin which is a big plus. It doesn't give the white shine either.

Very easy to use, all you need to remember to do is roll the tube in your hands to mix the ingredients all together, and apply like your regular sunblock. So far, it hasn't made me itch, and while I was out in the sun, there was definitely no burning occurring :) It is recommended for sensitive skin and for children (not for use on babies under 6 months) and I concur with this.

I won this product on a facebook competition from benaturallyou. I would highly recommend it to all my readers looking for a natural alternative to chemical based UV block.

Jurlique Blogger night

I was recently invited to the Jurlique Sydney beauty launch for their new anti-aging range.
First impressions: a lovely clean store, gleaming wood surfaces, and friendly looking staff.
We were greeted with Chandon champagne, and Fiji water (two of my faves) and delicious canapes were passed around by waiters.
I already knew one of the ladies who is a manager at Jurlique, so it was nice to see a friendly face.
I sat with the national training manager who spoke at length with me about Jurlique, it's history, and its products. I also met with the global marketing manager and the lovely ladies from TORSTAR.
I was invited to sit down with my consultant Song, who asked me about my skin, and gave me a demonstration of various Jurlique products.
I tried a wide variety of their products, including their world famous rose cream, but my fave is the jasmine body range (spring in a tube)
We started off with the Jurlique exfoliator which you can use either wet or dry, it has a nice creamy texture and leaves the skin feeling soft and looking bright, and not dry or red (which happens to me a lot with exfoliators as I have sensitive skin)

Body Exfoliating Gel

A skin smoothing exfoliating gel for the body, rich in herbal antioxidants and gentle walnut shell to lift away dead skin cells and impurities to reveal smooth, soft and more radiant skin.
  • $47.00
  • Soothing Foaming Cleanser Soothing Foaming Cleanser
    • Concern:
      Redness/Irritation
    • Skin Types:
      Sensitive
    • Benefits:
      Purifies + soothes
  • Song decided the soothing cleanser best suited my skin, and it is a combination of a gel and balm like texture, leaving the skin clean, but not dry.
Jurlique prefers a spray on toner, and really when you think about it, it makes sense, you use less, and it hydrates the skin leaving it prepared for moisturizers,Chamomile Soothing Mist

The Benefits:

  • Gentle mist that calms and soothes.
  • Leaves sensitive skin feeling refreshed and hydrated.
  • Provides natural antioxidant protection.

The Ingredients:

  • Marshmallow intensely hydrates and softens the skin.
  • Chamomile Oil helps hydrate, calm and rebalance dryness.
  • Grapefruit Seed acts as a natural antioxidant.
Next, the brand new baby for Jurlique, the purely anti aging range, which is perfect for someone such as myself, starting to show concerns with aging. The range consists of serum, moisturizer, and eye cream. The texture is not too thick, or heavy, but you can feel it moisturizing the skin. If you were going to apply makeup, i would suggest waiting about 5-10 minutes to let the product absorb.

Bare Minerals Bare Escentuals Mineral Makeup

At first, i was a little hesitant to get on the mineral makeup bandwagon, but, Bare Minerals has converted me to a believer.
Its really easy to apply, but takes a little practise in the blending to get it perfect.
I think it would be best applied with the bare minerals blending brush, however, a brush didnt come with the foundation, but were available to purchase separately. I found i had to try an assortment of the brush i already had at home before i found the right brush to get a really good application. I used a clinique makeup powder stubby brush made of natural hair
I purchased my foundation from AMAZON for approz $15, and prices vary.
Myer has them, but they cost $79, so NO THANK YOU!

One of the things i like about the product is you can use it as a concealer with a concealer brush, as well as it being your foundation.
They suggest using a mineral veil on top, and this might be something that would help stop the makeup slightly separating and going into lines around my mouth after a few hours.

Collagen Crystal Eyelid patch review

These came as a freebie, when i purchased Bare Minerals foundation a few weeks ago from Amazon.
You apply them directly under the eye, and leave for about 30minutes.
They contain a number of moisturizing and soothing ingredients such as allantoin, vitamin E, grape seed oil, aloe extract, camomile, cucumber extract, rose and lavender essential oils. The main idea of t is to have the ingredients absorb really quickly into the skin thru the eye patch contact.
The de-wrinkling ingredients are glycerin, and soy protein.
If you had really sensitive eyes, you might find the eye patch is a bit too much.
After about 10 minutes, my eyes started to feel a little "warm" but it didnt irritate my eyes.
